This is Carter's Blog Now, So what I say Goes: Albums of the Week

Young Fathers - Tape Two

Fuck this mixtape/album is awesome you will be singing "INSIDE I'M FEEELING DIRRRRTTY" all week after listening to track 1. The only negative...it's too damn short.  A great listen for classic Hip-Hop fans.
8/10

Kanye West - Yeezus

Kanye West + Trent Reznor = Yeezus ....again like the Young Fathers record it's really short.
8/10

Quickie Reviews (Daft Punk/Vampire Weekend/Little Boots)

Easily the best Electro-Pop album so far. Fun, melodic and relaxing all wrapped in one. It's really 80s inspired almost to the point of Glass Candy. If you like Kylie Minogue or Annie check this one out.
The lone awaiting new Vampire Weekend album. I actually wanted to buy this on white vinyl before it came out. I didn't and I'm kind of glad I saved my money. Is the album good? Yes but it's really something that may take alot of Vampire Weekend fans like myself to get used to due to the lack of "Fun" and "World music" jangly beats.
Same goes for the new Daft Punk record. Old fans may be disappointed in the direction the duo is going this time around. Are the songs good? Yes, yes they are but does it sound like Daft Punk? Absolutely not. It's missing alot of the funky I expect from them but they are doing what people DIDN'T EXPECT. Check out and see if you're still down with Daft Punk.

Fucking love that Daft Punk song featuring Pharrell - Get Funky

This Week Pick Ups (It's Saturday now)

Wavves - King of the Beach (2010)

And you're all like, but Carter you're supposed to be into all the HIPSTER SHIT BECAUSE YOU'RE A HIPSTER. Well even a hipster like myself will miss a few things and this is one of them. This is a Lo-Fi/"Beach" Pop album. Nothing crazy, just really fun stuff. Think Blink 182 meets Beach Boys. Alot of catchy, fun..this album is A Bud Lite Lime in your hand and a beach. I also know its "mainstream" now because I read that King of the Beach was in a commerical. And you know, I actually used to be one of those hardcore hipsters (kinda still am) who would always say "I LISTENED TO THEM BEFORE THEY WERE POPULAR" I'm old, so I say retro words like "popular" and "rad", but anyway. I used to be like that, but now I really don't even care unless its a sellout move. I'm looking at you Maroon 5.

Big L - Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous (1995)
A man with a white tee shirt, a jacket, jeans, a white hat and brown shoes is standing during the night. Many people are standing behind him. The artist's name is written in the top right corner and the album name is written across the bottom.

Awful album title spelling aside. I've picked up quite a few 90s Hip Hop albums and I've come to find that it's ranging from "Meh to Ok" with me. I know people swear by 2pac but I wasn't a big fan aside from his singles. And for like a month I LOVED 7 Day Theory which..may have been why I was so depressed...BUT ANYWAY! I'd tell people I wasn't a big 2pac fan and then after they picked up their jaw, I would then say "Don't look at me like that, I'm not a huge Biggie fan either" Fat jokes...Fat joe...MAN these vicodin...ANYWAY! People would just get all butthurt about it. How do you like Jay-Z but not Biggie. How do you like this guy but not 2pac. As if they are the founders of Hip Hop. So I took a week and I snagged some Hip-Hop albums. Before I get into this Big L album let me just say something really quickly.

2pac and Notorious B.I.G. Albums That Matter Power Rankings:
  1. The Notorious B.I.G. - Ready To Die
  2. 2pac - All Eyez On Me
  3. 2pac - Greatest Hits
  4. The Notorious B.I.G. - Life After Death
9001. Pac's Life

So can we stop acting like these guys dropped super classics please?
Also I guess this makes me a Bigger fan because I put it first. All 4 of these albums are interchangable. And don't you fucking dare try to tell me that shit like R U Still Down and Until the End Of Time gets alot of plays in your headphones. Save the bullshit.

The Strokes ≡ Comedown Machine (2013)

Look I know the questions people have about this album already.
  1. Question: LIEK OMG IZ IT LIKE IS THIS IT? Answer: Well it's not, so sorry.
  2. Question: OH GOD DOES THAT MEAN ITS LIKE FIRST IMPRESSION OF EARTH!?! Answer: Wrong again, it's not really that bad.
  3. Question: SOOOO WTF IS IT LIKE?!?!
Answer:
Now if you didn't like this album well I'm really sorry but that's the direction their going in. I did it, because I'm down with funky grooves and catchy pop rhythms. And honestly, I'm not a BIG (The) Strokes fan, so them "keeping it old school" doesn't really affect me. Now RADIOHEAD on the other hand, man Radiohead fucking switched their shit up every album and you had to get used to this genre, and that genre and this sound and that sound...Anyway this album is good, it's a nice mix of Indie Rock/Pop/Synth. It's nice and relaxing and dancey in places. Some people complained about Julian and his falsetto but I think it's fine. Again probably because I really have no strong bond with the band anyway. Let's score this sucker and wait for the new Vampire Weekend album!

7.5/10

--->I know you stupid fucks are going to hate the new Vampire Weekend album, because alot of you hate the 2 new tracks/videos they released, I read your fucking comments. Just relax and wait for the album to come out and then we can judge it...then rage and hope they make a new Discovery album. I'm really surprised alot of people don't know Ezra did that side project<-----

Carter's "Legal" Pickups (3-12-13)

I was on a retro psychedelic kick so I snagged some retro stuff, dig it.

The Zombies - Odessey and Oracle.  Um, a really depressing album. But if you're in a b'awwwww why me type of mood I guess it's good. Not even going to link anything, fuck off and google your own depressing shit.

Next up is War - Why Can't We Be Friends (The album you fucking retard fuckbag). This album is really an odd mix bag. There's R&B, Soul, Funk and Instrumental. It's good for when you're in the mood for a little bit of everything. The downside is that it doesn't really fit. If that makes any sense what so ever. The R&B doesn't lead well into the Soul, which doesn't lead well intro the Funk or Instrumental. But, a couple singles from this album Such as Low Rider (yes, that Low Rider) and the album title; Why Can't We Be Friends.

Alright, this one I wasn't expecting to be into, but damn is it good. The Olivia Tremor Control - Explanation II...Amazing Ambient music, great all the way through. Get yourself some good headphones, find this in a high quality kbps, relax and enjoy. Listen

/mu/ made me download it but fuck it. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea...got damnit guys, this is actually really good. And this isn't the "troll" running gag bullshit. Maybe I "fell for it", you know how we do with the Lil B thing? Or the Tim and Eric Billion Dollar Movie thing? But, I like those things and I really like this. It's Freak-Psych-Folk at its best. I kinda want it to be remastered or find a better quality I guess because my copy is pretty shit but, man it just grabs you in. The only negative is that, some of Jeff's vocals are a bit sharp and make you kinda wince and close your eyes or grit your teeth but other than that, it's really good. Read It Fag LISSSSSSSSTEN PLEASE

The Temptations - All Directions and what a proper title. Because this thing bounces around a few genres of music. A relatively short album too. 8 songs coming in at 34mins with Papa Was A Rolling Stone being the longest at 11 minutes. This album does different genres right. Soul, Funk, Psychedelic Soul. Good quality, solid album, grab your headphones. Read

http://hiphopisdream.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Lil-B-Im-Thraxx-Bootleg.jpg
Lil B-I'm Thraxx...I don't want to talk about it.

Next is (Carlos) Santana - Abraxas..easily the best Hispanic rock album of all time. And this is before Smooth and Maria. This is Oye Coma Va and Black Woman. Nothing more to say here, nothing more to see here, just listen.
 151a cover art
Kishi Bashi - 151a my god the amount of color. I'm just really getting into Animal Collective and I didn't like this my first listen. I felt like "experimental" noise/pop whatever. But, after getting into Animal Collective (kid on RN Surfer I think his name was, you were right about AnCo) It's just chill and fun. Listen

I'll see you next time.

Quickie Reviews: Nicki Minaj The Re-Up, Waka Flocka DuFlocka Rant 2, Gucci Mane Trap God 2

This "thing" is awful. There's not really much "new" here in this album/EP whatever she wants to call this. These are clearly left over tracks from her last "album" which was supposed to be an "EP" for her first album.  Now i know it seems like I just hate Nicki which I honestly don't. I really wish she showcase more lyricism like she did on the song "Did It On Em" she tries a bit here but it's a little too late. I mean when you have to get Cassie on a song...yeah. Only grab this if you're a true Nicki fan which I really shouldn't even have to say because you would already have it. 3/10

Laughably bad here for Gucci but what else would you expect. 4/10

5/10 better beats than Gucci so if you just "NEED" a "Trap-Rap" mixtape for the month, this is the one to grab. 5/10

Nothing really mind blowing on any of these..and if you really want a new mixtape to jam check out the new Pusha T mixtape.

Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie f. Jay-Z (prod. Timbaland)

2/5
Different beat styling from Timbaland, average Jay-Z verse nothing remarkable here...You won't remember this song in T-minus 2 weeks unless some insane remix happens...And for everyone who gets "mad" and calls me a "hater" I'm a big JT, Jay-Z and Timbo fan...this isn't anything Robin Thicke hasn't done before already.

Chris Brown - Fortune...Review

Chris Brown - Fortune
Sorry #TeamBreezy (actually no fuck you)..I have nothing against Chris Brown anymore because if Rihanna doesn't care then why the fuck should i? Ok let's move on...ummm what's interesting here nothing really and I'm sorry I just..Chris Brown and slow long songs just come off as "SUCK MY DICK SLUT" with little to no passion or intimacy for me. Now on the flip side the singles/party songs are great. He seems genuinely enthusiastic and happy to make them. So what do we have here? Well we have a so/so pop album with some forced R&B that sounds like leftovers from F.A.M.E.

Standout song(s):

Warrior (Kesha album) Quickie Review..kinda

File:Kesha Warrior.jpeg
Sometimes I do quickie reviews because things suck...other times I'll do quickie reviews because there's just not much to say. And with this...there's not much to say. Ke$ha plays it extremely safe by cutting the over use of AUTO FUCKING TUNE but what we get here is her belting vocals over dubstep/club beats. Yeah, that WUB WUB shit. If you really need a dubstep fix...grab this album..if you hate dubstep entirely...RUN...RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS!! With that being said let's rate this mofo...

I give Ke$ha's Warrior album 6/10

It's slightly above average and it'll def get alot of radioplay in 2013 because a large amount of these songs are fun and the song with Iggy Pop will be the drunk girl anthem of 2013 (if dubstep is still "cool" then)

Rihanna - Unaplogetic (A quickie review)

File:Unapologetic.jpg

...It sucks. Listen to Loud or Talk That Talk instead.

Diamonds is annoyingly growing on us all. David Guetta produced a song. David Guetta/Fake "Dubstep" beats everywhere. And yeah the song with Eminem was ok, but needed more Eminem and less boring....And yeah the Rihanna and Chris Brown song is good. There you go! You just listened to the album..k bye
